Former Manager and long time collaborator of Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Tones On Tail, Love And Rockets, Poptone), and executive producer of the 2009 New Tales To Tell: A Tribute To Love And Rockets album (featuring Puscifer, The Flaming Lips, Blaq Audio with album art by Shepard Fairey), industry veteran, Christopher The Minister, has found a new muse in the form of Devon Thompson, who channels Pj Harvey and The Cramps.

I knew after my first meeting with Devon, when she showed up wearing Doc Martens and a Siouxsie Sioux t-shirt, that I was all in on working together. - Christopher The Minister

After just shy of two years of their working together comes the first release of 2023, Soft Like Water. The song was captured in a bare-bones recording environment, which was vital for harnessing the energy and raw emotion of the song.

Soft Like Water was recorded and produced by James Salter (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Ravonettes, Gringo Star) in a classic body shop in Ventura surrounded by motorcycles, vintage cars, parts and collectibles. The drums were set up and mic'd under a vintage Porsche on a car rack, enabling Salter to capture a literal garage sound. Thompson’s power as a performer is showcased in her video that sees a woman refusing to be a doormat, to anyone, including herself.

Devon Thompson will be performing at SXSW and Soft Like Water is available now on digital platforms:
